AVault Review (2.5/5) ^©: Great production values aren’t enough to raise Impossible Creatures from being a mediocre exercise in button pushing, as it’s high on glitz but short on actual strategy, given over to what ultimately is little more than tank-rushes with imaginative graphics. Though it might be a solid choice for newcomers to the real-time strategy genre, the animals here aren’t treated with the wonder that they deserve but are thrown away with such reckless abandon that even Dr. Moreau would blush with shame. Impressive as they are, the creatures here aren’t impossible -- they`re merely expendable.

Microsoft Game Studios and Relic Entertainment on Tuesday invited twenty thousand gamers to download and participate in an online multiplayer test of Impossible Creatures. Gamers can now download a limited multiplayer version of this unique real-time strategy offering to help Microsoft stress test the matchmaking servers. The online multiplayer test version of Impossible Creatures contains a tutorial and three multiplayer maps as well as a pre-built army of combined animals. Link
